T Residence

The client came to LOUCA with a collection too large to display: their own acquisitions alongside pieces inherited from their mother, accumulated over a lifetime. The brief was simple but exacting, to make a home that lets the art live alongside the family, not stored away.

LOUCA designed each display space to the work it would hold. Some spaces draw out color and pattern, others cast a clean silhouette, and some use mirror-backed shelving so the reverse of a piece becomes visible too. Lighting placement and architectural detailing were tuned throughout so each work is shown at its best.

In the Japanese room, the wife visited a kumiko workshop with our team to feel the craft firsthand before committing. The kumiko shoji screens, designed together through the meetings, became the client's favorite element of the finished home.
